Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture, withstands Covid-19 : Terminology
Terminology for publication of new coronavirus-infected persons
What is a “patient”?
A person who is suspected of having a new coronavirus infection based on clinical characteristics (symptoms and doctor’s findings) and who has been diagnosed with a new coronavirus infection by examination.
What is an “asymptomatic pathogen carrier”?
Those who have no clinical features (symptoms or doctor’s findings) but have been diagnosed with a new type of coronavirus infection by examination.
What is a “dense contact”?
Those who have been in contact with a person who has been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus at a short distance or have been in contact for a long time and have a relatively high possibility of infection. In addition, whether or not it falls under the category of close contact will be determined individually by a survey on the contact status of the public health center. If you are determined to be a close contact, follow the instructions of the health center.
Guideline for close contact
For example, if the patient comes into contact with the patient from 2 days before the onset of the disease without necessary infection prevention measures, or if the patient comes into contact with the patient at a distance of about 1 m for 15 minutes or more.
What is an active epidemiological survey?
This survey is conducted with the aim of using it as a measure to prevent the spread of infection in the future by investigating the overall picture of outbreaks and the characteristics of the diseases for various diseases such as infectious diseases.
In Japan, it is conducted by public institutions such as public health centers and the National Institute of Infectious Diseases. The subjects of active epidemiological investigations are “patients” and “close contacts”. If there is a high probability that a “pseudo-symptom patient” will be a definite case, it may be the subject of an active epidemiological survey assuming that it will be a definite case.
